Twilla Avis Schwab, 83, Velva, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at her residence.
Twilla was born Sept. 29, 1929, on the family farm near Bonetrail, the daughter of Fred and Alice (Modahl) Smebak. She was raised and educated in country schools near Bonetrail. She graduated from Williston High School in 1947. She moved to Minot, where she was employed for several years at Northwest Clinic and later at Trinity Hospital for several years as a nurse's aide.
Twilla was united in marriage to Fred Schwab on July 2, 1960, at Minot. They made their home in Velva throughout the years, where along with raising their two sons, she was employed with the Souris Valley Care Center of Velva for 15 years. She retired in 1984. Fred died Aug. 6, 2012.
Twilla was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, and the church's circle group. She was also a member of the Velva American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and doing embroidery work.
Twilla is survived by: her two sons, John (Dixie) Schwab, Dillsburg, Pa., and Bruce (Gail) Schwab, Sequim, Wash.; and a sister, Alice (Bert) Weishaar, of Benedict.
Twilla was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Fred.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.
Interment: Velva Community Cemetery, Velva.
Visitation: Today, Dec. 6, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: Are preferred to Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.
