Reading at home! Rah! Rah! Rah!
Students at Bel Air Elementary attended a pep rally for reading Tuesday afternoon where they learned the school fight song and got to meet high school football players.
Minot High School football coach Barry Holmen and his football players told the children that knowing how to read helps them communicate on the football field.

"We've learned as we get older that reading is important and will set you up for success later on," said Holmen.
Students got a chance to win prizes and were encouraged to read some of the school's books about sports and how to succeed on the field and in life.
Juniors and seniors from the football team then went to each classroom and read books about sports to the children.
Reading strategies specialist Carol Bellew said meeting the football team was a surprise for the kids and will help encourage them to see reading as more important.
Classes have different reading goals for each month.
Other schools in the district have held similar school assemblies to encourage an interest in reading.
