Wesley Burgess, 47, Burlington, formerly of Casper, Wyo., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, in a Minot hospital.
Wesley Dale Burgess was born Oct. 15, 1965, in Laramie, Wyo., to Orville and Ellen Burgess. Wes was raised in Rawlins, Wyo., and attended Rawlins High School, where he was an accomplished wrestler, and graduated in 1984. He furthered his education at Casper College and received his diesel technician certification in 1985. Wes worked as a diesel mechanic for several different companies throughout Wyoming over the years.
Wes was a beloved father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and life companion as well as a treasured friend. He didn't know a stranger and would help anyone in need. One of his favorite things in life was hunting. September and October always found Wes in the mountains chasing the ever illusive Wapiti. He was very good at providing wild game for his family from the time he was old enough to hunt. Some of the best times for his family were spent camping and hunting. In his later years Wes found a love for rendezvous and the black powder shooting events. Wes was a wonderful cook, especially with his smoker.
Wes is survived by: his son, Trenton, of Saratoga; daughter, Shaylee (boyfriend, Lane) of Casper; life companion and treasured friend, Tanya Stolns, of Casper; parents, Ellen and Orville Burgess, of Encampment, Wyo.; brother, Jack (Michelle) Burgess, of Rawlins; nieces, Kalah, of Rawlins, Kirsten and great-nephew Nickolas, of Casper; nephew, Justin, of Rawlins; grandmother, Wilma Kurtz, of Encampment; as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Wes was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A celebration of the life of Wes will be held Dec. 15 at the American Legion in Saratoga, Wyo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wes Burgess Memorial Fund at The Rawlins National Bank, P.O. Box 1290, Saratoga, WY 82331.
