Hazen won the Class A football championship this year, and the football team's representation on the first-team all-state team is indicative of that success.
Senior quarterback Stetson Carr - listed as a running back on the official list - senior defensive lineman Michael Maas and junior linebacker Hunter Fears were honored. Sophomore Seth Kreil made the second-team offense.
Carr scored four total touchdowns (three rushing) in the Sioux's 55-28 Dakota Bowl victory against Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn. In a second-round win against Heart River, Carr tallied 242 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Stanley-Powers Lake, the 2011 champion, also has three first-teamers. Senior running back Abe Roehrich, a lineman on the official list despite not playing the position for S-PL, senior receiver Kale Enget (also listed at lineman) and senior defensive lineman Braeden Farhart were all recognized for their play on the field.
Roehrich, a repeat selection, ran for multiple scores and more than 100 yards against New Town, Watford City, Des Lacs-Burlington, Williams County, Velva and Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn.
In the playoffs, he accomplished the same feat against Grant County-Flasher, scored a pair of touchdowns against Killdeer and rushed for 112 yards in a season-ending 14-0 loss to Hazen.
Blue Jays junior Levi Hoiby and senior Seth Myers were second-teamers.
Other area players to make the first team are W-N-G quarterback Hunter Braaten, Velva linebacker Taylor Barstad and Lewis & Clark-Our Redeemer's running back Logan Gunderson and linebacker Dalton Njos.
