GRENORA Marvin Hoff, 91, Grenora, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, in a Williston hospital.
He was born July 18, 1921, to Henry and Ragna Hoff, in Barr Butte Township, Williams County. He entered the Army on Oct. 14, 1942. He served in World War II as an airplane mechanic/flight engineer/top turret gunner. His B-17 was shot down over the Adriatic Sea on March 11, 1944; he was then a prisoner of war in Germany until being freed by British soldiers on May 2, 1945. He was discharged Sept. 17, 1945. He married Ruth Peterson on April 13, 1951.
Survivors: daughter, Phyllis Haskins, Williston; son, Wayne, Lakeville, Minn.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Saturday, 3 p.m., St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Grenora.
Burial: Grenora Cemetery.
Visitation: Today, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., in Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston, and Saturday, one hour prior to the service, in the church.
