Microtel Inn & Suites, a Wyndham hotel company, has announced that their new Minot hotel will open for business Thursday. The location is right off Broadway at 414-37th Avenue Southwest.

The grand opening event will take place Friday. It will start with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon followed by a lunch and a tour of the building. The grand opening will end at 2 p.m.

Guests enter into a foyer that doubles as a lounge area with seating, a gas-fueled fireplace and a flat-panel television opposite the front desk where they can check into a choice of 94 rooms on four floors. The rooms are split between 21 singles, 52 doubles, 17 suites and four jacuzzi rooms.

The Microtel Inn & Suites sign can be seen from the west side of the new hotel, which opens Thursday and will have a grand opening ceremony on Friday. The hotel is located on 37th Avenue Southwest near its intersection with Broadway.

The jacuzzi room is just that, a suite equipped with a jacuzzi tub instead of the sofa featured in the regular suites.

The indoor pool and hot tub located on the ground floor is accessible to disabled patrons through the use of submersible chairs that assist the guests in and out of the water.

"Going forward, all Microtel new builds will have this," said Lori Brooksire of the management company for the hotel, Sky Hospitality, LLC, of the pool chairs. She was not sure whether Microtel will equip already built hotels with the technology, but sees it as a very good step in the right direction for accommodation.

Other amenities include a complimentary hot and cold breakfast for all guests, modern room design featuring workstations equipped with power and data ports, free Wi-Fi, a conference room, and other business meeting rooms.

"In Williston we have the Microtel Inn & Suites and Hampton Inn & Suites," and also another Microtel Inn & Suites in Dickinson, said Stefani Noland, general manager. Sky Hospitality manages nine other hotels in the nation besides the four North Dakota locations.

Noland, who has worked in the hotel industry for 12 years, said she is excited about the grand opening and welcomes everyone to stop by. "It should be fun," she said.
