Richard Wesley Briggs, 60, of Stanley, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away at his home from natural causes on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012.
Rick was born Oct. 10, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, where he also graduated from Northland High School. Rick joined the Marine Corps in 1973. After his honorable discharge he continued his education to be a master electrician. He worked for the Consolidated Railroad for 17 years and then for the City of Columbus, Ohio, as a traffic engineer for 10 years.
Rick enjoyed local fishing and also broadcasting on his shortwave radio around the world. He was active in the North Dakota Republican Party, loved discussing politics and Ohio State Buckeyes football.
He is survived by his daughters, Amber Briggs (fiance, Dennis Lindahl) and Brandy Wilkie; his son, Joey Wilkie; his mother, Patrica Briggs, as well as his sisters, Cathy Coblentz and Lora Kruse, all of Columbus, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Briggs, and wife, Benji Jo Briggs.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m., in Springan Funeral Home in Stanley.
