Loraine Zarr, 60, Minot, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Loraine Frances Nordsven was born Jan. 23, 1952, the daughter of Elmer and LouAnn (Madson) Nordsven, in Dickinson. She was raised and educated in Halliday and graduated from Halliday High School in 1970.
Loraine married Dale J. Zarr on Nov. 27, 1970, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Halliday. From this union, three children were born: their daughter, Christine, and their two sons, Steve and Jeremy. They made their home in Glencoe, Minn., where she worked as a teacher's aide at the Glencoe Public School, before moving to Minot where she worked as an aide for the hearing impaired at Perkett Elementary. They later moved to Billings, Mont., where she worked as a teacher's aide at Billings West High School, before moving back to Minot in 1986. Loraine worked at Radiology Consultants as an X-ray technician and then after as an E.M.H. teacher's aide at Edison Elementary School for a time. She began employment as a librarian at Perkett Elementary School and retired from there in 2007.
She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot, and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
Loraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was an author of several books she wrote throughout her life, most notably a book about her daughter, Christine, and a book about herself titled, "Loraine's Journey." She enjoyed gambling, spending time at casinos and visiting Las Vegas, as well as decorating her house and shopping. Loraine was a creative person, who came up with a lot of unique entrepreneurial ideas. She and Dale enjoyed watching movies and crime scene television shows. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her loving family includes: her husband of 41 years, Dale, Minot; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Geri Zarr, Minot, and Jeremy and Amber Zarr, Minot; grandchildren, Regaen, Jackson, Owen, Jaeger, Zoe and Jaelynn Zarr; father and mother, Elmer and LouAnn Nordsven, Halliday; brothers, Randy (Mary) Nordsven, Dickinson, Greg (Casey) Nordsven, Killdeer, and Elmer Jr. (Paulette) Nordsven, Watford City; sister, Elaine Fettig, Killdeer; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Loraine was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Zarr.
Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Today, Tuesday, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Today, Tuesday, at 6 p.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
