Marion Ida Finke, 96, of Waterford, Mich., formerly of Kramer, passed away at Lake Orion Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake Orion, Mich., on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, when her Lord called her home.
Marion was born Sept. 7, 1916, the daughter of Clarence and Lucy (Peck) Rollman in Saco, Mont. The Rollman family moved from Reading, Pa., to the Minot area in 1926 and settled north of Granville in 1933.
Marion married Walter J. Finke on June 28, 1938. They started their family and farming together in Eckman. Marion was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Upham. In 1947, the family expanded the farming operation and moved to Kramer where she became a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Kramer. She was a leader in the church and very involved in LWML. During this time Marion was also active in Homemakers, 4-H work and was a skilled seamstress. In 1962 she moved to Bottineau where she worked as the food service supervisor at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. During this period she owned and operated the Lake Metigoshe Laundromat. Marion had many hobbies, which included gardening, quilting, sewing, cooking, playing cards and raising flowers. She was the consummate caregiver and help for the elderly while in Bottineau.
Marion is survived by: her four brothers, Gordon, Harry, Donald and Robert; her one sister, Lois; her five children, Gary R. (Beverly) Finke, of Thief River Falls, Minn., Betty L. (Rev. Dale) Evanson, of Waterford Mich., William L. (Sandra) Finke, of Parshall, Bruce A. (Linda) Finke, of Chicago, and David G. (Maureen) Finke, of St. Paul, Minn.; her 10 grandchildren; her 22 great-grandchildren and her two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her brothers, Raymond, Leroy, Richard and Ralph; her sister, Margaret; and her grandson, Jonathan Evanson, who passed away July 1, 1975.
Funeral: Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Tuesday, 3 p.m., at the Granville Cemetery, Granville.
Visitation: Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. to service time, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers, it is the family's wishes that any memorials be given to the Lake Orion Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake Orion since they were so kind in providing their loving care in Marion's final years.
