I am tired of hearing Rick Berg being attacked for his success. Rick was a farm boy from Hettinger who had a dream of starting his own business. He got together with some college friends, took out a bank loan and accepted all the risk to start it. After many years of hard work they became very successful, all while creating jobs for people in North Dakota. Rick Berg is the American dream at work and is a man we should look up to, not insult or tear down just because he is successful.
Rick Berg has given back to our state with his money, talent and time in charitable efforts on his own and through his business. Heidi Heitkamp is trying to paint Rick as a man who only cares about money and himself. The truth is that if he only cared about himself, he wouldn't be running for the Senate; he would be working in the private sector where he could earn more. Instead, he has chosen to serve our country and North Dakota. We should be grateful that such a hardworking, honest and successful man is willing to do this job. Rick Berg is the kind of person I want representing me in the Senate.
