Minot State University senior linebacker Brett Mohr received Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference defensive player of the week honors for his play during the Beavers' 31-10 victory Saturday over Minnesota State-Moorhead.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder from Southey, Saskatchewan had a career-high 14 tackles - the second most by an MSU player this season and more than any NSIC member last week. Of Mohr's tackles, seven were solo and 3.5 were for losses, including a half sack.
He also picked off Dragons quarterback Jake Hodge for his first interception of the season.
MSU defensive coordinator Joe Ford said Mohr's performance wasn't surprising. In nine games this season, Mohr has 54 tackles and 4.5 for loss.
"I think the ball came at him a few times, and he ended up making some good instinctual tackles," Ford said. "I think it was just a culmination of his preparation throughout the season."
