Alven and Brynhild Schmutzler, of Minot, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary Friday, Nov. 9, with a card shower organized by their family. They also celebrated the anniversary at a family reunion which their children and their families hosted in August at the beach house in Holden Beach, N.C.
Brynhild Olson and Alven Schmutzler were married Nov. 9, 1942, in Hillsboro, Ore. He worked for Mackley Construction Co. in Minot for 50 years.
Their children are: Ed Schmutzler, of Walnut Calif.; Ernie Schmutzler, of Kent, Conn.; Linda Johnson, Ludington, Mich.; Warren Schmutzler, Minot; Sheila Burckhard, of Advance, N.C.; Wes Schmutzler, of Rogers, Ark., Brenda Hawkinson, Prior Lake, Minn., and Sandy Bahl, Minot. The couple has 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
