Emmy Hansen, Minot
All of the political ads attacking Heidi Heitkamp are based on clairvoyant abilities. They are able to tell us exactly what she will do in the U.S. Senate if elected.
You would think she was an incumbent with an existing voting record such as that of Rick Berg. No one knows with any certainty how she would vote while holding office. What we do know is that she is a highly skilled individual in all of her past positions. We do know that she is a perceptive person that understands what our state needs and what we stand for. We know she is a nice person. Heck, even the anti-Heidi ads state that she is a nice person!
One area that I haven't seen mentioned is that it could very well be a real plus if we sent a female to the U.S. Senate. Congress is extremely unpopular with the people of this nation. They have made no progress in coming together to address the serious issues facing our country. Why would it be helpful to send another male to the Senate? In North Dakota we have been doing that for more than 120 years. Maybe it is time to try something else. Maybe it is time to send more women to Washington. A fresh approach could be most helpful. A female brings a different perspective to a stalemate or to a seemingly insurmountable problem.
Everyone knows Congress could use a change and we in North Dakota have an opportunity to make that change. Heidi is her own person; give her the chance to prove to North Dakota that she is the best choice for North Dakota's Senate seat.
