Hawk grew his angel's wings at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born in Harvey on Feb. 18, 1941, to Walter and Anna (Solheim) Hakanson.
Hawk graduated from Fessenden High School in 1958 and went on to college at NDSU and graduated with a degree in Agriculture Economics. He served in the Air Force from 1966-1972. Hawk was very proud to be a veteran.

In 1963 he married the one and only love of his life, Gloria Pellett, in Fessenden. They have three children and nine grandchildren. Hawk enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, "tinkering," and especially spending time with his family during the summer months at the lake. If anything needed to be fixed, you asked Hawk.
