Barbara Ryan, 81, 1621 Foothills Road, Minot, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, in her home.

Barbara Joan Ryan was born June 2, 1931, the daughter of Dr. C.J. and Elvira Irma (Dashner) Ryan, in Loyal, Wis. She was raised and educated in Loyal and Arpin, Wis., and graduated from Holy Cross High School in Merrill, Wis. She graduated from St. Scholastica College in Duluth, Minn., with a bachelor's degree in hospital medical records.

She began her medical records career in Austin, Texas, in 1950. She served as the director of medical records at several hospitals throughout the years, and ended her career in Las Vegas, Nev. In 2006, she moved to Minot to be closer to family. Barbara never married but was fortunate to have a close relationship with her numerous nieces and nephews.

She was an avid golf fan, attending major tournaments all over the country. She loved to play bridge, and was always ready for Bingo. Barbara was a benevolent and caring person who took the misfortune of others seriously by donating anonymous monies and other forms of assistance.

She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot.

She is survived by: her two brothers, Dennis (Mary) Ryan, Fort Sumner, N.M., and Pat (Dorothy) Ryan, Minot. She will be sadly missed by her eight nieces and nephews; 25 great-nieces and great-nephews; and six great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Mount Vernon Cemetery, Tomah, Wis.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register book today, Oct. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil prayer service: Today at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: Are preferred to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Food Pantry, Minot.
