I’m not voting for Heitkamp

Minot Daily News

Janne Myrdal, Edinburg

U.S. Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp has been attacking Rick Berg for not being able to pass the farm bill, even though he doesn't have the power to bring the bill to the floor for a vote. It is the House Majority Leader and Senate Majority Leader who choose what bills get brought to the floor for a vote.

If Heitkamp wants to discuss the House Majority Leader, it's only fair that we take a look at the Senate Majority Leader as well.

The Senate Majority Leader is Harry Reid, who Heitkamp has publicly pledged to support. He has not brought a budget to the Senate floor for a vote in over three years. It is no wonder this country is racking up a deficit of over $1 trillion annually.

How is it OK for Heitkamp to criticize Berg over a process in which he has no control (he's not the Majority Leader) when she has publicly pledged support for a Majority Leader who has chosen not to pass a budget in over three years?

This is campaign double speak that is trying to deceive the voters, and that is one reason I will not be voting for her on election day.
