Dorothy Chandler, Minot
The MAGIC Fund, a one-cent sales tax, was established to pay and encourage businesses to come to Minot and this area. It was needed.
Now there are a plethora of businesses anxious to come and take advantage of our bustling economy.
We no longer need this MAGIC Fund.
The huge amounts of money hundreds of thousands of dollars flowing into this fund is now being spent on other things. Who knows what? There seems to be no accounting.
Now we are being told the sales tax must be increased to pay for infrastructure and other oil field related costs.
I strongly suggest the MAGIC Fund tax, no longer required to encourage new business, be used instead to pay for these new required expenses.
By the way, how much is in the MAGIC Fund? Who is in charge of spending it? We, the people?
