Carol Joanne Olson, 77, Minot, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at her home.
Carol was born May 26, 1935, to Carl and Mildred (Jensen) Auck, at Coleharbor. Carol was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Coleharbor, and graduated from Coleharbor High School in 1952. She attended Minot State Teachers College and taught in rural schools in McLean and Ramsey counties.
Carol married Darrell Olson on Aug. 29, 1954, in Riverdale. They lived and farmed by Webster for 10 years before moving to a farm by Edmore. They farmed there until 1986, when Darrell died on Dec. 6, 1986.
Carol moved to Minot in 1988 and worked at various jobs. She was a teacher's aide for handicapped students at Perkett Elementary School, a caregiver for Ward County Social Services and Easter Seals. She volunteered at Trinity Hospital and Nursing Home in Minot.
While living in Edmore, Carol was a member of Living Word Lutheran Church, Edmore. She was currently a member of Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot.
Carol is survived by: her children, LaVonne Hagens, Great Falls, Mont., JoAnn Olson, Minot, Dean (Dawn) Olson, Starkweather, Keith Olson, Minot; grandchildren, Darrell (Andy) Desilets, Mandan, Elissa (Joel) Rhoads, Minot, Derek (Tosha) Olson, Minot, Misty (Brandon Mostad) Olson, Fergus Falls, Minn.; Zachery Hagens, Great Falls, Mont.; great-grandchildren, Lily Dawn and Ava Lynn Mostad, Fergus Falls, Minn., Mitchel and Hunter Warnke, Minot, McKayla, Leelyn and Kaitlyn Desilets, Mandan, Tegen Joel and Lukus Keith Rhoads, and Abby LaRae and Noah Darrell Rhoads, Minot; brother, Lynn (Carolyn) Auck, Coleharbor; sister, Janice Straub, Colorado Springs, Colo. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Special friends, Bev Carlson, Brookings, S.D., and Delores Olson, Grand Forks, also survive.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Darrell; daughter, LaRae Olson-Desilets; brothers, Lyle, Royal, Roger, Lowell, Dale and Donald Auck, and sister, Ruby Carol Auck.
Funeral: Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, 11 a.m., at Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation: Today, Oct. 18, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Edmore Cemetery, Edmore.
