Overlay work is being done on six to seven miles of highway from New Town east to N.D. Highway 8.
"Basically, concrete is poured on top of the existing asphalt surface. The concrete is not poured yet in this particular spot," said Jamie Olson, a spokeswoman for the North Dakota Department of Transportation in Bismarck. The rebar can be seen in the photo.
"The concrete will get poured over that and the rebar will help reinforce the concrete," Olson said. The construction project to add passing and turning lanes between Parshall and New Town began in early summer. The project covers about 16 miles from near the Highway 23 and N.D. Highway 37 intersection near Parshall to the east side of New Town.

The construction is expected to be completed in late October or early November, depending on weather, Olson said.
