SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The No. 8 Minot State University men's club hockey team beat No. 17 Stony Brook University (N.Y.) 4-2 on Sunday to finish 3-0 at the American Collegiate Hockey Association Showcase. All the Beavers' wins at the event came against ranked teams.
The Beavers (6-0) scored two goals in the first six minutes and never trailed. MSU sophomore forward Mike Jordan had a goal and two assists in the first period as the Beavers scored three goals, but Stony Brook responded with two goals of its own.
After a scoreless second period, Jordan added an insurance goal late in the third. MSU sophomore forward Logan Herauf had a goal and three assists, and junior goaltender Wyatt Waselenchuk tallied 25 saves.
"We were in a battle tonight," MSU coach Wade Regier said in a press release. "Stony Brook University is a great team and they gave us all we could handle. I was proud of the way we handled the adversity and found a way to win."
