MAX The food franchise in the new Max Farm Services' convenience store in Max is the only such franchise in North Dakota, says office manager Christal Haugen.
Mean Gene's Grill in the Max Farm Services' new store has hot and cold food. The store has two booths and two tables for those who would like to eat there.
Haugen said people always ask why it's named Mean Gene's.
This is the new Max Farm Services’ convenience store that opened last month along U.S. Highway 83 in Max. Mean Gene’s Grill, the only Mean Gene’s franchise in the state, is located there.
The franchise, with corporate headquarters in Sioux Falls, S.D., is named for legendary professional wrestling announcer "Mean Gene" Okerlund.
The convenience store at Max opened Sept. 6 and is located along U.S. Highway 83 on the west side of the highway.
It has six gas-fueling pumps and four diesel fueling pumps, Christal Haugensaid.
The convenience store is open seven days a week. The inside store is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. There's 24-hour service at the pumps.
The store went from four convenience store positions to 13 positions, Haugen said.
Dan Haugen, Christal Haugen's husband, is general manager of Max Farm Services.
