Sanford to offer flu vaccinations
Sanford Health is reminding community members that the best way to protect them from and to avoid spreading the flu virus is to get a vaccination. Sanford Health Walk-in Clinic, located at 801-21st Ave. SE, is now offering flu shots and FluMist, a nasal spray vaccine available to healthy, non-pregnant women, men and children ages 2 to 49. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Seven companies get support award
BISMARCK - The N.D. Department of Human Services' Division of Vocational Rehabilitation will be awarding its 2012 Employer of the Year awards to seven regional recipients on Wednesday. The awards honor North Dakota business owners and employers for their exceptional support of people with disabilities.
"North Dakota is a leader in the employment of persons with disabilities," said division director Russ Cusack. "These awards recognize organizations for their continued work with the division and for their work within their communities to support, develop, and inspire individuals with disabilities to achieve their full potential."
The honorees are nominated for excellence and creativity in providing a supportive work environment for people with disabilities as well as their commitment to community service and other charitable activities.
The organization works to assist individuals with disabilities to maximize their employment opportunities and to assist business owners and employers in finding solutions to disability-related issues.

State council
to meet Oct. 9-10
BISMARCK - The North Dakota State Rehabilitation Council will meet on Tuesday, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., and Wednesday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. The public is invited to attend.
The council meets quarterly to hear reports and to advise the N.D. Department of Human Services' Division of Vocational Rehabilitation on issues relating to policy and strategic planning, and promoting increased employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
The agenda for the opening day of the meeting includes election of the council's chairperson, a review of the council's membership and budget, and order of selection. There will also be a report from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation director, a discussion on the eight regional disability-related employer honorees, and a public comment period.
On the second day of the meeting, participants will hear a report from the Client Assistance Program, and discuss workforce development, new case management, and the council's annual report and training. Other business may be discussed. A detailed agenda is online at www.nd.gov.
