Evonne Eby

Evonne Eby, 80, Minot, formerly of Kenmare, ended her final journey, and is now in the loving arms of our Lord Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, in her home in Minot.

Evonne J. Staaleson was born Jan. 31, 1932, the daughter of Clarence S. and Elnora (Nelson) Staaleson, in Lignite. She was raised and educated in the Burke County area.

Evonne married Wayne Eby on Oct. 4, 1949, in Columbia Falls, Mont. They made their home in Kenmare, where they raised their family. Wayne passed away Oct. 17, 1985. Following her husband's death, she continued to reside in Kenmare for a time until moving to Minot in 1988.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She spent her life caring for and wanting to help others. She volunteered at various caregiving facilities including Trinity Homes, ManorCare Health Services, and St. Joseph's Hospital. She also was a volunteer private caregiver.

She was a former member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kenmare, where she served as a CCD teacher. She also served as a Girl Scout leader while living in Kenmare. She was currently a member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Minot.

She also enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.

Her loving family includes: daughters, Jackie (Lorenz) Weinmann, Lignite, Sandra (Jim) Haugen, Butte, Vonita Eby, Minot, and Wenetta (Mark) Eby-Smith, Minot; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention.

Evonne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; infant daughters, Elnora and Melissa; sisters, Clarine Sorensen and Fairlyn Padgett.

A Private Family Celebration of Life Service will take place in Kenmare.
