As a former member of the State Board of Higher Education I have watched with interest, and admitted dismay, the actions of the board as it has delegated huge power to the person holding the position of chancellor.
The constitution of the State of North Dakota gives to the board broad authority concerning the institutions under its jurisdiction. There is, however, no wording in the constitution that allows the board to delegate these powers to the hired help.
In taking the action it has, the Board of Higher Education has embarrassed us all, and in embarrassing us all they have shamed themselves.
