Attack ads don’t ring true

I've known Rick Berg for a long time. We worked side-by-side in the state Legislature and we've remained friends over the years. I know the work ethic Rick Berg has. The attack ads from the Heitkamp campaign do not ring true.

Another thing that does not ring true is Heitkamp's claim that she is an independent. In the first debate it was obvious that Heidi was attempting to convince the audience that she is an independent and will represent North Dakota in Washington, D.C., as a bi-partisan vote. She even stated that she did not agree with the administration's outlook on drilling and mining, and that she wants to get people back to work. She has claimed over and over that she supports energy development in North Dakota. But the facts do not match the rhetoric.

Heidi just hired Robert Carlson as her senior policy advisor. Carlson has served as the president of the North Dakota Farmers Union for 14 years, and has publicly opposed the Keystone Pipeline while lobbying Congress to pass climate change legislation.

Heidi claims to be for energy and jobs when she has hired an individual to be her top policy adviser that has publicly opposed these topics? Her words do not match her actions and we have enough of that already in Washington, D.C.

I have served with Berg and he will be a strong voice in the Senate. He will continue to represent the people of North Dakota in an honest and fair way.
