Minot State University junior Jeff Buchert was named the Northern Sun defensive player of the week for his contributions in the Beavers' first win of the season - a 32-21 win over the University of Mary on Saturday.
The 6-foot-1, 215 pound defensive back had a team-high 11 tackles and two interceptions. His second pick came in the fourth quarter, helping preserve a late MSU comeback.
Buchert, a native of Plainfield, Conn., has all three of MSU's interceptions this season.
