MSU men's golf team finishes 10th

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The Minot State University men's golf team finished 10th at the 12-team Husky Classic on Monday at the St. Cloud Country Club.

The Beavers shot a 311 Monday to finish with a two-day total of 618. St. Cloud State University, the host of the event, won with a 590.

Five golfers, including two from Minnesota State University-Mankato, tied with an even-par 144 for the individual title.

MSU senior Marion Hernandez tied for 14th with a two-day total of 150. Hernandez's score didn't count toward the Beavers' overall total, as he was golfing on MSU's 'B' team for the tournament.

"We certainly did not play our best golf," MSU coach Chipper Farrell said in a press release. "We had been playing pretty well coming in. We have a week off now before we play in the fall tournament and hopefully we can rest up and have a better showing at that tournament."

The Beavers play the first two rounds of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship Oct. 8 and 9 at Madden's Resort in Brainerd, Minn. The NSIC tournament concludes with two more rounds at the end of the spring season.
