Allen Landers, rural Kenmare, N.D., met his Lord on Sept. 11, 2012, at age 93 after a lengthy illness. His funeral service is Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's Free Lutheran Church, Stanley. There is not public visitation and a family service is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m. at the church.
Allen was born in Kenmare, N.D., to John Harry and Gina Landers, on April 30, 1919. On June 25, 1948, he married his sweetheart, Marjorie Boughton, and they built their farm near Kenmare and raised five children.
He was active in his community as an elected official on the Spencer Township Board for over 50 years. He served maximum terms on an FHA Board. He served in many capacities as an active member of Our Savior's Free Lutheran Church of Stanley.
Allen is survived by: his children, Cheryl (Larry) Gray, West Bend, Wis., Harry (Darlene) Landers, Portland, Ore., Rodney (Debra) Landers, Kenmare, N.D., Charlene (Gary) Gravesen, Minot, N.D., and Laurel Landers Olson, Minot. He leaves behind a legacy of 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; brothers, Milton and Donald Landers; and sister, Emma Anderson.
Memorials: May be donated to the Shriner's Hospital for Children-Twin Cities, 2025 East River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55414.
