Edna Rose Redding, 93, longtime Sawyer resident, entered her heavenly home on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012. A woman who loved her Savior, Edna was a tireless prayer warrior, many times praying into the early morning hours.

Edna was born on July 22, 1919, to Christ and Lydia Bauman. A brother, Richard, joined the family two years later. Born and reared in the Sawyer area, Edna spent most of her years there except for two years in Sausalito, Calif., where her husband, Wayne, worked in the shipyards.

Edna assisted the family financially by jobs of selling Stanley Home Products for more than 25 years. She picked potatoes and other vegetables at Hedstrand Gardens, cleaned chickens in Minot, drove school bus in Sawyer and worked in the Dietary Department of St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot. She also provided foster care for four children. Most recently, Edna and Wayne had resided at Brentmoor, Valley View Manor and Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.

Edna was a longtime member of the Sawyer Church of the Nazarene and she especially enjoyed gardening, singing and playing the piano and organ.

Her most loved and fulfilling duties were being a devoted wife to Wayne, whom she married April 6, 1939, in a Minot Lutheran church parsonage. She loved being a mother to Carol (husband, Merv), Wayne Jr. "Budd," Dennis (wife, Carol), Roger (wife, Linda), Sheryl (husband, Lyle) and Richard (wife, Lorry). A son, Daryl, was killed in a work-related accident in 1983. She was an extra special grandma to Tim, Sandy, Maria, Carmen, Ryan, Elizabeth, Amy, Stacy, Michelle, Paul, Mark, Kevin, Jessica, Eric, Jennifer, and Nathan; and to her stepgrandchildren, Alicia, Amber and Shannon; 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, Joslyn Moody.

Edna will always be remembered for her enormous giving heart of putting others before herself. She leaves to remember her kindness and generosity her six children and their spouses, 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Peggy Redding, of Sawyer, Bernice Redding, of Minot and Margy Eastman, of Washington state, plus numerous friends.
