Phyllis Arnold, 86, Minot, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Phyllis Margaret Schneider was born March 2, 1926, the daughter of Rochus and Katherine (Klein) Schneider, in Rugby. She was raised and educated in Rugby.

Phyllis was once married to Wendelin Richter. She worked at the Elks Lodge as a waitress for several years.

Phyllis married Clarence "Pete" Arnold Aug. 2, 1974, in Mohall. They made their home in Minot, where she continued to work at the Elks Lodge.

She was an avid flower gardener. Her flowers were the envy of the neighborhood.

Pete passed away Aug. 20, 2002. Following her husband's death, she continued to reside in Minot until the flood of 2011, when she went to live with her daughter, Jennifer, in Camden, Ark., where she continued her love of gardening. She enjoyed nature and watching the cardinals and hummingbirds and the companionship of the family pet, Brandy.

She returned to Minot in August 2012.

She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.

Surviving family includes: daughters, Jennifer (John) Strauss, Camden, Ark., Marsha Baskin, Las Vegas, Nev., and Nancy Tepler, Minot; grandchildren, Brent (Jamarie) Kabanuk, Heidi Olson, Suzanne LaSpina, Christine (Jonathan) Sullivan, Brian Tepler and Kerri Tepler and her special friend, Darren Miller; great-grandchildren, Alayna Kabanuk, Bianca LaSpina and Kyle Kabanuk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Pete; sisters, Katherine Stutrud and Mary Schaan; and brothers, William, John and Lawrence Schneider.

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Today, Tuesday, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Today, Tuesday, at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: are preferred to the Salvation Army.
