Beavers finish 2nd at Invitational

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Minot State University men's golf team finished second out of 12 teams at the two-day Bemidji State University Invitational on Monday at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.

The Beavers finished with a total of 602 strokes, three behind the University of Manitoba. MSU entered Monday's round one stroke ahead of Manitoba, but Manitoba shot a 300 compared to a 304 for the Beavers.

Winona State University's Alex Zeyen won the individual event with a 1-under-par 143 over two rounds. MSU sophomore Kowan O'Keefe finished tied for fifth and seniors Michael DeLorme and Blair Anderson tied for ninth.

The Beavers begin the Concordia University-St. Paul Invitational on Sunday in St. Paul, Minn.

MHS places third at Invite

BISMARCK - Minot High School senior Haili Duchscherer shot a team-low 84 and sophomore McKinley Bender carded a 90 to help the MHS golf team finish third on Monday at the Bismarck Invite at Apple Creek.

The foursome of Duchscherer, Bender, eighth-graders Paige Argent and Evie Reynolds combined to shoot 372. Duchscherer's 84 was the seventh-best round of the tournament and Bender's 90 tied for 10th.

"We had several girls step up today," MHS coach Cody Mueller said. "Everybody had a solid day."

Bismarck Century won the event with a team score of 333, 30 shots better than second-place Dickinson. All four of Century's players finished with scores in the top 10. Century's Annie Nelson shot a tournament-best 75, one shot better than Dickinson's Rachel Jahner.

Rounding out the tournament field were Bismarck High (380), Jamestown (410), Williston (418) and Turtle Mountain (512).

The Majettes tee off at 10 a.m. today at Prairie West Golf Course in the Mandan Invite.
