Duane Kinnoin

Duane Kinnoin, 75, rural Belden, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, in his home.

Duane was born Oct. 9, 1936, in Stanley, to Carl and Nora (Skaar) Kinnoin. He was raised and attended school in Stanley, graduating from Stanley High School in 1955.

Duane began working for Mountrail REC and worked for three years before entering the service in 1959. He served for two years in the Army and then returned to Stanley where he continued to work for REC until 1968. He began farming full time in 1968.

Duane married Connie Sahlberg on Oct. 11, 1969, in Stanley. Duane and Connie raised their family on the farm near Belden.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing in North Dakota and Canada. Duane treasured the time spent with his grandkids and enjoyed being able to teach them to hunt and fish. He loved the time spent on the farm and was very proud to have his family be a part of the Kinnoin Farm.

Duane enjoyed bowling, was a member of the Stanley Jaycees and the Stanley Rifle Club. He was a trustee and very dedicated member of Our Saviors Free Lutheran Church in Stanley.

Duane is survived by: his wife, Connie, of Stanley; son, Doug, of Stanley; daughters, Carolyn (Jr.) Brandt, of Stanley, and Jennifer (Tim) Galvan, Grand Island, Neb.; grandchildren, Nathan, Shawn and Nora Brandt, all of Stanley, and Jacob and Megan Galvan, Grand Island; sister, Nancy (Jerry) Rudolph, of Stanley; brothers, Meyer (Diane) Kinnoin, of Stanley, and Carl (Margie) Kinnoin, Riverdale; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Duane's parents Carl and Nora preceded him in death.

Duane's funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2 p.m., at Our Saviors Free Lutheran Church, Stanley.

Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Stanley.

Friends may sign a memorial register today, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Springan Funeral Home in Stanley. At Duane's request, there is visitation for family only and a family service at 7 p.m. today.
