Irene Grenstiener, 85, Minot, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Irene Rosalie Thielen was born Dec. 21, 1926, the daughter of Jacob and Rosalie (Keinrath) Thielen, in Glendive, Mont. The family later moved to Dickinson. After graduation from Dickinson High School in 1944, Irene attended college in Dickinson and graduated with a bachelor of science degree. Irene then enjoyed teaching English for several years.

Irene married George Grenstiener on June 13, 1949, in Dickinson. They moved to Mandan, where they made their home until 1953, when they moved to Minot.

George passed away on Aug. 18, 1990. Following her husband's death, Irene continued to reside in Minot.

She was a member of the Minot American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed games, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed small crafts but especially so when she could give the finished products to her family and friends.

Surviving family includes: children, Carol Shulze, Minot, Lois Bossert and her special friend, Tim Schulz, Blaine, Minn., James (Carlene) Grenstiener, Mandan, Joan (Ken) Sharp, Hutto, Texas, David Grenstiener and his special friend, Laurel Nelson, Shafer, Minn., and Betty Jo Lee, Dilworth, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemary (Glenn) Krantz, Auburn, Wash.; as well as nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; sons-in-law, Buford Shulze and Robert Bossert; and sister, Florence Erlandson.

Memorial Service: Saturday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register book on Saturday one hour prior to the service at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
