Elmer Dale Hoff, 80, of Crosby and formerly of Fortuna, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Crosby.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, 10 a.m., at Stakston-Martin Funeral Home in Crosby, with Chaplain Myra Osvold officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 3 p.m. at Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.

Elmer was born June 2, 1932, in Manitoba, Canada, the son of Albert and Mary (Elrod) Hoff. He was raised in Canada along with 12 brothers and sisters. Elmer enjoyed playing with his brothers and sisters while growing up and enjoyed helping on the farm. Elmer served in the Air Force and received an honorable discharge in July 1960.

Elmer worked hard all his life and had a love for life and those around him. He enjoyed joking and talking with friends. He lived the majority of his life in Fortuna, where he worked on various farms. Elmer loved farm work and watching things grow. Elmer had a wonderful smile and a twinkle in his eye when sharing jokes with those he loved. He loved to tinker and fix things, taking anything apart and fixing it. He enjoyed the little things in life. Nothing was better than sharing a cheeseburger and telling stories.

Elmer is survived by: brothers, Fred and Alvin, of Minot, and a sister, Violet, of Minnesota.

Stakston-Martin Funeral Home of Crosby is in charge of arrangements.
