Kindness and support

Gwendolyn Jo Michaelson, Velva

Myself and others from the campground attended the town meeting in Velva recently. Our purpose was to address the concerns on a very disturbing letter written by one of their own members, Darrin Johnson.

They informed us about his right to freedom of speech. Very well, we were there to exercise ours.

Council approached Darrin expressing their concern about this letter as he is supposed to represent them at all times. Their positive input on this was very refreshing

Johnson appeared arrogant and a bit cocky. I spoke up and asked him "What provoked you to write such a thing?" He looked at me and began to rant and rave about the sewer problems he blamed the campground for. Again I spoke up. "What does that have to do with us?" He seemed angry and frustrated at the council. I asked the same question "what?" After more comments from others and the board, the matter was put to bed, so to speak.

Johnson then gave an apology. Now that wasn't so hard, was it Mr. Johnson?

Thank you, Velva, for the kindness and support.
