Magicians earn third shutout

Two goals in a six-minute span during the first half propelled the Minot High School soccer team past Bismarck St. Mary's, 2-0, Thursday at the Bismarck Community Bowl.

Senior forward P.K. Annan tallied the game's first goal in the 32nd minute on a cross from junior midfielder Ryan Crabtree.

"We brought it outside, Ryan had a perfect cross, P.K. headed it right into the net," coach Cody Saunders said. "It was beautiful. Just like you see on TV."

The Magicians (3-1-1 overall, 2-1 West Region) struck again in the 38th minute to build a two-goal lead at halftime. Senior defender Jordan Foley scored unassisted.

The Minot defense, led by junior keeper Garrett Weishaar, shut down St. Mary's offense en route to the team's third shutout of the season. Weishaar recorded 14 saves to earn the win in net for the Magicians.
