MOHALL Paul Daniel Buynak, 59, a rural Mohall resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at a Minot healthcare facility, after a courageous battle with cancer for the past year.
Paul was born at St. Anne's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, to Stephen and Mildred (Bauer) Buynak. Paul was the third of eight children. He grew up in Hacienda Heights, Calif., and Dayton, Ohio, where he graduated from Chaminade High School. In 1971, Paul joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Minot Air Force Base as an aircraft ground refueler. While in Minot, Paul met, fell in love with, and married Georgia A. Nelson, on May 25, 1974, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mohall. They celebrated 38 wonderful years together. He and Georgia loved the land and ran a dairy and small grain farm. Both Paul and Georgia attended Bethel and Zion Lutheran churches.
After numerous years of farming and ranching, Paul and Georgia explored new employment opportunities. Always wanting to try new ideas and new jobs, Paul worked for Dahl Trucking Company, hauling grains and flowers to and from the East Coast and West Coast, as well as down to Florida and up to Canada. His next venture was working as an oil hauler and dispatcher for the Great Northern Trucking Company (GNT) until he became ill. Paul loved to coordinate the truck schedules and talk to the haulers. Paul served on the Hoffman Township Board from 1985 until his death.
