BISMARCK - The Minot High School volleyball team won two of three matches to open its season Friday at the Bismarck High School-Century High School Invitational.
West Fargo beat the Majettes in their opener 25-22, 25-21, 15-9. MHS bounced back with wins over Valley City (25-18, 25-20, 13-15) and Fargo Davies (25-21, 25-21, 10-15).
The matches in the tournament all run three sets, regardless of whether a team is winning 2-0.
"We were really pleased with how the girls played," MHS coach Ellen Jebens said. "They got a lot of digs and played good defense."
The Majettes have four more matches today, beginning with a matchup against Grand Forks Central at 10 a.m.
Williston went 0-3 in its matches, losing to Fargo Shanley, Wahpeton and Devils Lake.
