MANDAN (AP) - A former female teacher in the southwest North Dakota town of Hebron is on trial for alleged sex crimes involving male students.
Jennifer Schultz has pleaded not guilty to felony sexual assault and two misdemeanors - corrupting minors and giving them alcohol. Authorities allege that she drank vodka with four boys in her home in October 2011, had sex with one of them and groped another.
The boys were between 16 and 18 years of age. Prosecutor Jackson Lofgren told jurors in opening statements that Schultz's alleged actions went from being inappropriate to being illegal.
Defense attorney Stormy Vickers says there was no sexual contact between Schultz and the students.
Schultz resigned her teaching position during the investigation.
