LaVerne Holte, 91, Minot, formerly of the Pleasant Lake area, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at her residence in Minot.
LaVerne Annie Meyer was born Jan. 22, 1921, the daughter of Peter and Lottie (Wiltsie) Meyer, in Hanks. She was raised and educated in the Pleasant Lake area.
LaVerne was united in marriage to Wilfred Holte on Oct. 26, 1944, in Towner. They made their home on a farm located east of Voltaire, where they lived and farmed for several years. Wilfred passed away Oct. 23, 1974.
Following her husband's death, she continued to reside in Minot, where she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital. She retired from there after 19 years of employment.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot, and a former member of the Hjerdahl Lutheran Church in Voltaire.
Surviving family includes: three sons, Kenneth (Marvis) Holte, New Rockford, Arden (Susan) Holte, Jamestown, and Harlan Holte, Minot; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlene (Ernest) Nelson, of Kent, Wash., Yvette Elsbernd, Grand Island, Neb.; brother, Wayne (Virginia) Meyer, Edinburg; and several nieces and nephews.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilfred; sisters, Lenore Dahl, Loretta Fagerland, and Yvonne Brandvold; and brothers, Delbert Meyer, and Vernon Meyer.
Memorial service: Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m., Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Hjerdahl Lutheran Cemetery, Voltaire.
Visitation: There will be no reviewal but friends may sign the register on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Memorials: Are preferred to Hjerdahl Lutheran Cemetery Fund, Voltaire.
