Austin E. Wallace, 19, Minot, has been identified by the North Dakota Highway Patrol as the person killed in a one-vehicle rollover shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday.
The accident occurred on Ward County Road 18 approximately 1.3 miles east of U.S. Highway 83. County Road 18 is located six miles south of Minot.
According to the Highway Patrol, Wallace was the driver of a 2001 Ford F-250 pickup traveling west when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to enter the passenger side ditch and roll twice before coming to rest on its wheels.
Wallace and Michael L. Schmidt, 20, Minot, were ejected from the vehicle. Schmidt was in the front seat. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt. According to the Highway Patrol Schmidt was severely injured and transported to Trinity Medical Center in Minot. A second passenger, Jordan Sanmiguel, 15, Minot, was wearing a seatbelt while seated in the back seat at the time of the accident and survived with minor injuries.
