MHS golfers takes sixth in first tournament

JAMESTOWN - Minot High School senior Haili Duchscherer led the Majettes with a two-day total of 178 at the season-opening East-West Classic on Monday and Tuesday.

Minot took sixth in the 14-team field at the Jamestown Country Club. Fargo Davies won the event with a team total of 654. Fargo North (684) was second and Bismarck Century (699) finished third. The Majettes shot 782.

"I saw a lot of good things," MHS coach Cody Mueller said. "I also saw a lot of things to work on moving forward. But I was pleasantly surprised with how some of the girls performed being that it was their first tournament experience.

"We're a young team. I saw some really good things from a lot of them. It's a lot of learning and getting some experience as the season moves forward."

MHS sophomore McKinley Bender (196) and eighth-graders Paige Argent (208) and Evie Reynolds (211) rounded out the team's scoring on Tuesday.

The Majettes play Friday in the Mandan Invite at Prairie West Golf Course.
