Esther M. Bromley, 93, of Drake, was united with her Savior Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at the Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Esther Hoagland, daughter of Edward and Alma (Beaty) Hoagland, was born Oct. 15, 1918, on the Hoagland family farm north of Anamoose. She grew up on the family farm and attended school at Funston.
On Sept. 24, 1937, she was married to Lester Bromley at Drake. They made their home north of Drake, where they raised six healthy, wonderful children, Dennis, Harvey, Pete (Lester Paul), Myron, Stanley and Naomi. Lester passed to his heavenly home on Oct. 24, 1996. Esther remained on the farm until 2004, when she moved to Anamoose for health reasons. In 2010 she became a resident of Edgewood Vista in Minot, where she made many new friends.
Esther was a devoted family farm wife and mother. In addition to her household work, she helped with the farming, the dairy operation and raised chickens. She graced her friends and family with her warm smile, mischievous twinkle in her eye and loving heart. One never left her home hungry between the homemade bread and buns, every kind of jelly, a delicious spread of a meal and, to top it off, before you left you had better have saved room for a dish of ice cream. She especially enjoyed visitors and coffee with family friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching wildlife and nature.
Esther was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran ELCA Church of Drake and always enjoyed fellowship with the women there. She was also a member of the Drake Senior Citizens.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lester; one son, Myron; her parents; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Leonard, Clarence and Melvin Hoaglund; and three sisters, Gladys Becker, Clara Anderson and Emily Johnson.
She is survived by: four sons, Dennis (Nancy), of Ogema, Minn., Harvey (Pat), of Harvey, Lester Paul (Caroline), of Stilwell, Kan., and Stanley (Linda), of Minot; one daughter, Naomi (Randy) Schnase, of Anamoose; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
