Shelly Stenberg, 49, Minot, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo.

Shelly Rae Ann Schumaier was born Aug. 2, 1963, the daughter of Ruben and Petronilla "Pat" (Schreiner) Schumaier, in Garrison. She was raised and educated in Minot.

Shelly married John A. Stenberg June 27, 1985, in Minot. They made their home in Fargo, where Shelly had her own daycare service, Tender Times Daycare. They moved to Minot in 1993, where she continued to operate Tender Times Daycare. They became members of St. Leo's Catholic Church. She later worked at New Hope in Minot from 1998 to 2000. Shelly and John also owned and operated HAV'N FUN DJ's for a time.

In May 2000, she started working for Domestic Violence Crisis Center in Minot, as a residential supervisor. She was very good at her job. She had a great deal of empathy and was a very compassionate person.

Shelly enjoyed reading, listening to country music, and watching her favorite television shows. When she was watching her shows, you knew you were not to interrupt her. She loved the outdoors and being outside. She also loved her pets, but most of all her husband, two daughters, parents, siblings, and all of her relatives and many friends.

Her loving family includes: daughters, Jordan (Jordan) Pederson, Minot, and Jade Stenberg, Minot; mother, Pat Schumaier, Minot; mother-in-law, Margaret Stenberg, Minot; sisters, Diane (Arthur) Sprenger, Hillsboro, Ore., Sandy (Vern) Griffey, Minot; brothers, Darold Schumaier, Minot, Glenn (Gloria) Schumaier, Minot; sister-in-law, Peggy Schumaier, Minot; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul Stenberg, Woodbury, Minn., Mary (Cal) Sikorski, Regina, Sask., Peter (Carol) Stenberg, Minot, and Renee Stenberg, Minot; and her special family friends who were very dear to her heart, Kristi Wilkinson and Duane Cossette, and their families, all of Fargo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shelly was preceded in death by her father, Ruben Schumaier; husband, John (who passed away Nov. 6, 2008); brother, Larry Schumaier; sister-in-law, Anne Marie Stenberg; and nephew, Shane Schumaier.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Friday, Aug. 10, from noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil prayer service: Friday at 7 p.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
