Harold A. Woessner was born March 27, 1926, in Belden, to Ida and Otto Woessner. He passed away peacefully on July 29, 2012, in Stanley. Harold's memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at 2 p.m., in American Lutheran Church, Stanley. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Stanley.
Harold was raised on the family farm with brothers Don, Ed, Leroy and Bob. He became an accomplished horseman and hard worker. He left high school during World War II to work on a wheat harvest crew. Harold joined the Army at age 19 and was on his way to Japan when the war ended. He spent a year in Japan with an occupation troop.
When Harold returned to North Dakota, he married Hazel Grinolds and had a son, Mike. He moved his family to California, where he obtained a job with the railroad. He worked in that job for nearly 40 years. In California his family grew with the births of his children, Steve, Julie and Darren. Harold returned to school in 1968 and graduated from Roseville High School.

Upon retirement, he moved back to North Dakota to care for his mother, Ida. There he married Harriet Prochaska and was married to her until her death in 2007. Harold spent the rest of his days living at the Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley.
Harold is survived by: his children, Mike (Linda), Roseville, Calif., Steve (Jeni), Roseville, Calif., Julie Gravel, Santa Clarita, Calif., and Darren (Francie), El Dorado Hills, Calif.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Dorothy), of Denver, LeRoy (Trudy), Springfield, Ill., Bob, Bismarck, and Ed, Washington, D.C.
