Edna Knutson

SHERWOOD Edna Knutson, 98, Minot, formerly of Sherwood, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at her home.

She was born March 13, 1914, in Aneta, to Lars and Ella (Vig) Larson. The family moved from Aneta, in the fall of 1914, to a house in Grover Township, rural Sherwood. They moved into their new house in Hamerly Township in the spring of 1915. Edna attended the Hamerly Township School and graduated as valedictorian from Sherwood High School in 1932.

Edna married John Knutson, of Tolley, on June 15, 1935. They bought a farm in Hamerly Township, where they lived and farmed for many years. John died Nov. 7, 1989. Edna continued living on the farm for many years. She moved to the Brentmoor in Minot in July of 2004.

Edna was an active member of Hamerly Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, served on the church council and was a member of the WELCA. She was a charter member of the Good Samaritan Auxiliary and a member of the Grover Homemakers Club. Her hobbies included knitting, crafts, and reading, and she especially enjoyed yardwork.

Family: sons, Mervin (Agnes) Knutson, Tolley, Jerome Knutson, of Temple, Texas, Melvin (Beverly) Knutson, Post Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, seven stepgranddaughters, 13 stepgreat-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Patty Knutson; brothers, Arnold, Raymond and a baby brother; sisters, Clara Phillips, Rachel Larson and Thelma Center; and one great-grandson.

Funeral: Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood.

Burial: Hamerly Cemetery, rural Sherwood.

Family service: Today, Aug. 8, at 5 p.m., at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.

Visitation: Today, 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
