Bonnie Lyon, 81, passed peacefully Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, in a Minneapolis nursing facility.
Bonnie Jean Miller was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Minot, the daughter of Virgil and Lillian (Hansen) Miller. Bonnie lived with her family in Minot until she married Robert James Lyon on June 28, 1947, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot. Robert took a job with the railroad which had them living in various North Dakota towns until 1959, when they settled at 109-18th St. NW in Minot. Bonnie lived there until 2010, when she moved to an assisted living facility in the Minneapolis area.
Bonnie was a devoted wife of 57 years, mother and grandmother. She loved visiting with friends and family. Being an animal lover she had many pets through the years but her dog "Molly" was her special companion later in her life.
Bonnie is survived by: her sister, Gloria (Jim) West, Minot; sisters-in-law, Mavis Lyon and Dorothy Miller, both Minot; four children: son, Michael Alex (Joan) Lyon, Camino, Calif.; daughters, Nancy Jean (John) Holland, Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; Shelley Kay (Dean) Atkinson, Oakes; Lori Margaret Lyon (Andrew) Olson, Minneapolis; nine grandchildren, Tami Jean Lyon (John Lozano), John Robert (Megan) Lyon, Sheri Lil (Randy) Wolfe, Robert Joseph Mitzel Hesch, Michael David (Jeanette) Hesch, Jesse Dean (Ashley) Atkinson, Whitney Lee (Stuart) McDaniel, Emily Margaret Olson and August Peter Lyon Olson; three great-grandsons, Jonathan Hesch, Luke Hesch and Karver Atkinson; and one great-granddaughter, Hailey McDaniel.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Virgil Lawrence Miller.
Memorial service: Will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, 21-3rd Ave. SW, Minot, ND 58701.
Interment: Will be at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
