The location for the Cash Wise Foods store being planned for Minot by Coborn's Inc., will be in southwest Minot.
Emily Coborn, a company spokeswoman, said this week that the new store is being planned for the "southwest quadrant of 16th Street Southwest and 31st Avenue Southwest."
Because planning is still in the preliminary stages, she said the store footprint and all the services it will offer are not available yet.
Coborn's recently announced plans to build five new grocery stores in western North Dakota in the state's Bakken region. Bakken is the name of the lucrative oil formation attributing to the oil boom in western N.D.
An employee-owned grocery retailer, the company has stores in North Dakota and several other states under the Coborn's, Cash Wise Foods, Economart, Food Pride and Save-A-Lot banner.
Besides in Minot, Coborn's is planning a Cash Wise Foods store in Dickinson.
Coborn said the average size of the Cash Wise Stores is about 90,000 square feet so it is expected the Minot and Dickinson stores will be about that size, although the stores are still in the preliminary planning stages.
The company also plans Coborn's stores in Stanley and Tioga to replace the company's existing Food Pride stores, and a Coborn's store in Watford City.
She said these stores also are in the preliminary planning stages but generally Coborn's stores are about 60,000 square feet.
She said it has not been determined yet which store or stores will be built first. The company's earlier announcement said Coborn's plans to build the stores now through 2014.
