Jones shoots Minot low at junior championship

BISMARCK - Minot High School's Ty Jones shot the lowest score Monday of any Magician competing at the Western Dakota Junior Tour Championship.

Jones' 73 is eight strokes back of Trenton Schwehr (Bismarck High), who leads after the first of two days at the meet. Monday's round was played at Tom O'Leary Golf Course and today's round will be played at Prairie West in Mandan.

Two players carded 68s and another shot 72. Jones is tied with four others. Minot's Jersey Kelly (74), Taryn Albright (75), Tyler Kast (77) and Braxton Heupel (83) are also in the field of 41, which finished 18 holes and is scheduled to begin play at 8 a.m. today.
