Steven M. Ramsdell, 59, Minot, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Steven Michael Ramsdell was born April 12, 1953, at Trinity Hospital in Minot to Gerald L. and Carol Jean (Taylor) Ramsdell. He lived with his parents at Carbury until the age of 5 when he moved with his family to Greene where he lived until he was 18 years old. He attended school at Lansford Public School from first grade until seventh grade. He attended eighth grade to 12th grade at Tolley Public School. While in school, he played basketball. He graduated from Tolley High School in 1971 as salutatorian.

Steven attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks for one year and then attended Minot State the following year. After that, he worked roofing and construction. He then moved to Linton and worked as a janitor at Linton Public School for 10 years. Steven then moved to Minot, where he worked maintenance at Dakota Square Mall for four years. He was also part owner of the White Knight Maintenance Co. and worked at Walmart for 17 years in their maintenance department. Steven was working at Walmart until his death.

Steven enjoyed reading, gardening and working on computers. He had a passion for fishing and hunting.

Steven is survived by: his mother, Carol Jean (Taylor) Ramsdell, Minot; brother, Gerald "Jerry" Ramsdell, Minot; sisters, Cynthia (Edward) Geyer, Minot, Laurel Ramsdell, Minot, Kristi Ramsdell, Minot, Colleen Ward, Minot; nephews and nieces, Jason Geyer, Portsmouth, Va., Andrew (Teesha) Geyer, Fairborn, Ohio, Lisa Kemery, Warren, Pa., Nanci Geyer, Williston, Jordan Geyer, Minot, Geron (Nikki) Ramsdell, Kaiserslautern, Germany, Jordan Ramsdell, Minot, Derrick Ward, Minot, Taylor Ramsdell, Minot; many great nieces and nephews; aunts, Janet (Bill) Otten, Lynnwood, Wash., and Yvonne Taylor, Hammond, Ind.; uncles, Gene Ramsdell, Kenmare, and Harlan (Marie) Ramsdell of Oregon; and several cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Whitey, and his dog, Buddy.

Steven was preceded in death by: his father, Gerald Lloyd; his paternal and maternal grandparents; cousins, Donald Nelson and Kevin Taylor; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral: Friday, Aug. 3, 10:30 a.m., at Hope Lutheran Church, Surrey.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation and prayer service: Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 2, from 2 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., both in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
